The Morning Conversations of Barack & Michelle Obama #6
February 27, 2011 - Academy Awards
A fictional account of the private morning conversations of Barack & Michelle Obama by Dexter Yarbrough. Sixth in a series.
Barack: The King's Speech!? C'mon Michelle! How do you figure that movie to win Best Picture?
Michelle: I like movies based on factual events. And I like movies that show how people have overcome.
Barack: He was the King of England and had a speech impediment. He wasn't exactly poor and destitute.
Michelle: Still, he overcame his impediment and led his country to victory in World War 2.
Barack: I think Winston Churchill would disagree with you on that.
Michelle: OK 'Leader of the Free World,' what is your pick?
Barack: True Grit! Now that is a great movie.
Michelle: It figures you would like a movie like that.
Barack: This movie shows the determination of a young lady seeking justice for her father's murder.
Michelle: No. It shows some nasty man and a girl seeking revenge for her father's murder. There is a difference, Barack!
Barack: Whatever. I also liked 127 Hours. Great movie. Now that film showed the will and determination of a man to survive!
Michelle: Ok. Who is your Best Actor?
Barack: Jeff Bridges, of course!
Michelle: Figures.
Barack: OK. Who is your choice, First Lady?
Michelle: I'm going with James Franco. His acting was superb.
Barack: I have to agree with you. What about the Best Actress category?
Michelle: Natalie Portman! She played the hell out of that role!
Barack: I didn't care for her and hated the movie. I like Annette Bening.
Michelle: I can't stand her. She is overrated!
Barack: Hey. Anytime you can convincingly play the role of a lesbian and you are straight, you have won me over!
Michelle: Are we going to watch together or are we on some security alert for the Oscars?!
Barack: Funny! No, some of the Dems and GOP leadership are coming by to watch in the White House Theatre.
Michelle: Oh, no! Another political show where I have to watch what I say and be someone I am not!
Barack: It's only for a few hours and I have a tough re-election bid coming up. I have to make some more friends.
Michelle: Have you given any thought to what we are going to do once we leave the White House?
Barack: Yeah, chase women with Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods and get drunk with George Bush and Charlie Sheen!
Michelle: Go to hell, Barack!
Barack: Yep. If the economy doesn't get any better and I lose next year we might just be going there - together!
