Delicious Butter Cookies Recipe
Delicious Butter Cookies Recipe
By Dexter Yarbrough. In today's world of no fat, low cholesterol diets, calorie busting cookies sure don't win any brownie points! But getting your toned butt and abs off the treadmill for a treat once in awhile can't hurt! I would suggest you try the world famous butter cookies that I used to eat while attending public high school in Chicago. Hmmm. People sure did seem to be slimmer back then.
Anyway, we used to forego the nasty vegetable and healthy junk they gave us and went straight for the good stuff. If you like old school stuff, you know, music, cars, Pac Man, Tom Cruise in the movie Risky Business, the Chicago butter cookie will awaken your sense for nostalgia.
Now, assuming that you did not attend a Chicago public school is no reason for you to miss out on the smell and taste of this delectable, fattening treat. You only live once, right?
The Recipe
OK. Here is what you need:
- 2 sticks (1 cup) softened butter
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg. Add vanilla extract. Mix in flour - small increments. Roll dough into balls. Flatten the dough slightly on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
Delectable
Alright, so this recipe should make about 12 to 18 cookies, depending upon how large you round out your dough. When they come out of the oven, you will have a delicious treat that will challenge any diet!
